Accessibility Statement – Your Space Apartments
Our company is fully committed to adhering to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and the Equality Act 2010. Eden House, Byron House, Manor House, and Hamiltons all feature ground-level entrances with easy accessibility.
Jubilee House’s primary entrance requires ascending 4 steps, while Cambridge Place entails 16 stairs up, and Market Rise involves 8 steps up.
To ensure a well-lit environment, all public areas, hallways, staircases, landings, and lifts are thoughtfully illuminated with a combination of ceiling and wall fixtures (fluorescent lighting is utilised within the lifts). Corridors are adorned with wall-mounted lights, creating a slightly dimmer ambiance. Additionally, each lift is equipped with a convenient mirror on its rear surface.
All of the primary entrance doors can be operated using security codes and keys. The doorway dimensions for the main entrances are as follows:
Byron House: Main door – 106 cm, Door access to each floor – 90 cm
Cambridge Place: Main door – 87 cm
Eden House: Main door – 81 cm, Lift door – 82 cm
Hamiltons: Main door – 85 cm, Internal door (front and back) – 80 cm, Lift door – 80 cm
Jubilee House: Main door – 85 cm
Manor House: Main door – 112 cm
Market Rise: Main door – 91 cm
Public corridor widths and floor coverings vary among each block:
Eden House and Hamiltons are equipped with lifts, featuring audio announcements and tactile buttons for enhanced accessibility.
While there are no signage elements within the corridors, apartment door numbers are designed with raised lettering for easy identification.

Apartment Description: Hamiltons
When it comes to accessibility, our Hamiltons Apartments set a high standard. Here’s what you can expect from these exceptional accommodations:
- External door widths: 84cm
- Interior door widths: 81cm
- Well-lit apartment corridors with wall-mounted lighting
It’s important to note that the measurements provided for the Hamiltons Apartments reflect the typical dimensions found within this apartment block. However, there may be slight variations from one apartment to another, particularly in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. These variances may arise due to the specific location of the apartment within the block and the individual apartment layouts.
Our kitchens exhibit an open-plan design in most of the apartments, fostering a welcoming and spacious atmosphere.
For your convenience, each kitchen is equipped with both a dishwasher and washing machine integrated into the lower level cupboards.
The work surface and food preparation area are ergonomically designed with an average height of 90.5 cm. Cupboards offer storage with the highest shelf averaging at 198 cm, while the fridge/freezer units feature the highest shelf at approximately 178 cm, with the lowest drawer averaging 30 cm. Should you prefer, all crockery, glassware, and kitchen equipment can be relocated to lower level shelving upon request.
Ample illumination graces the kitchen area, courtesy of spotlights strategically positioned throughout, complemented by a separate light on the cooker hood. The flooring boasts an attractive wooden finish.
Notably, the sink taps in Hamiltons’ kitchens are universally one-lever basin mixer taps. However, some apartment kitchens may feature traditional turning basin taps, so please feel free to inquire if you have a specific preference.
The heights of key kitchen appliances are as follows:
Oven: Approximately 120 cm from the handle on the door (drop-down doors)
Hob: Approximately 90 cm
Microwave: About 147 cm (from the plate within the microwave to the floor)
Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas
In our apartments, bedrooms are not individually numbered, as the apartment main doors feature raised numbers for identification. Within Hamiltons apartments, you’ll find a combination of double beds and single beds in the two-bedroom units. Furthermore, the majority of bedroom furniture can be repositioned for your convenience, though some bedrooms may feature built-in wardrobes with non-adjustable wardrobe rails.
Rooms are thoughtfully designed to be bright and evenly lit, utilising ceiling lighting along with table lamps on each bedside table. The overall color scheme promotes good contrast between the floor, walls, and doors, with a low-pile carpet. Additionally, we provide non-feather bedding to accommodate various preferences.
Each apartment may vary slightly in size, with most comprising one larger bedroom and one smaller bedroom, suitable for a personal assistant, caregiver, or a friend/family member. Additionally, some living rooms in the Hamiltons apartments include a sofa bed, or we can arrange for a put-up bed to meet your specific needs if required.
In the smaller bedrooms of Hamiltons, you’ll find an average of 112 cm of space on each side of the bed, with the narrowest width being 100 cm. The larger bedrooms offer a transfer space of at least an average of 118 cm on one side of the bed.
The height of the beds, from the floor to the top of the mattress, averages at 52 cm, and all beds provide an average of 18 cm of space beneath them for added convenience.”
Bathrooms, Shower Rooms & WCs (En-Suite or Shared)
Our main bathrooms in the apartments offer the choice of either a walk-in shower or a shower over a bath, with the bath sides measuring an average of 64 cm in height. In all our bathrooms, you’ll find sinks with pedestals underneath, providing a stylish and functional design. The taps in the bathrooms are universally one-lever basin mixer taps for ease of use. Illumination in the bathrooms is provided by spotlights, creating a well-lit and inviting atmosphere, while the flooring is adorned with tasteful tiling throughout.
The height of the WC from the floor to the seat averages at 40.5 cm, ensuring a comfortable experience. The washbasin height averages around 77 cm, offering a convenient and user-friendly design.
Grounds & Gardens
Hamiltons boasts both back and front external areas. These spaces feature a level, concrete-paved surface, providing ease of access and navigation. Please note that while the area is well-maintained, seating arrangements are not provided in these external spaces.
At present, our team has not undergone formal Disability Awareness Training. However, we wholeheartedly welcome assistance dogs and are more than happy to provide a water bowl upon request.

Should the need arise, the nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit and a walk-in NHS facility is the Addenbrooke’s Hospital, located approximately 5 miles away or less.
